The Ordinary Azelaic Acid Suspension 10%
Hi there 🙂 Today I want to tell you about The Ordinary Azelaic Acid. I’ve been using The Ordinary’s products for a few years, at least 3 I think, and I’m satisfied with almost all of them.
The Ordinary Azelaic Acid is relatively out of the spotlight, but is without a doubt one of The Ordinary’s best product. It helps soothe irritated skin, reduce redness and blemishes on the skin. And unlike other acids, it’s not irritating to the skin at all!
What Is Azelaic Acid
Azelaic acid is basically a compound extracted from wheat, barley or rye and works to protect the skin from free radical damage. Azelaic acid is effective in treating skin blemishes, treating acne and rosacea. It also helps balance the sebum production of the skin (increased production causes acne). It encourages skin cells to regenerate, is anti-inflammatory and smoothes the skin texture.
Azelaic acid helps to clean the pores and refine the texture of the skin, and helps soothe inflammation, and is especially suitable for people with rosacea. Unlike direct acids, it is quite gentle on the skin and is even considered safe for use in pregnancy. It fights acne, helps lighten blemishes on the skin and gives even skin tone.
The Ordinary Azelaic Acid
The Ordinary Azelaic Acid Suspension, at a concentration of 10% acid, is supposed to be really something amazing. Azelaic acid has a variety of abilities: it is an effective antioxidant and protects the skin from free radicals. Helps lighten the skin, improve its texture and reduce skin blemishes. Unlike other acids, Azelaic acid does not cause irritation and has been found to reduce redness and rosacea! The acid is suitable for all skin types.
Texture & Smell
The texture of the product is a light and easy-to-use cream gel. The texture is slightly silicone and has a feeling of primer after application. Despite the primer feel it works less well with makeup so I recommend for those who wear makeup to use it only at night.
The Azelaic acid doesn’t have fragrance inside, and it smells like Azelaic acid but it’s not strong at all.
How To Use The Ordinary Azelaic Acid
Suitable for morning and evening (but I only prefer evening and therefore recommend doing so) on clean skin, after serum, before moisturizer. Sunscreen should be used during the day, even in winter.
Does The Ordinary Azelaic Acid Works
I ordered as part of the attempts to fight the damage of age. The Ordinary Azelaic Acid costs only $10.
When I started writing this post I had amazing skin and used acid to treat mostly skin pigmentation and anti-aging. At some point I stopped writing this blog post (because I had a very tiring and difficult pregnancy ..). After the birth I get acne and inflammation on the face, real pimples and red and very itchy skin. Slowly and gradually I returned to a skin care routine that included The Ordinary Azelaic Acid. Now I’m re-editing the post to tell you that the Azelaic acid really works! It helped me soothe the inflamed skin and the acne that popped up with this pregnancy, and without the tingling that is we usually get with other acids.
If you are dealing with facial redness, rosacea, blocked pores and acne you should add Azelaic acid to your skin care routine.
Do not combine Azelaic acid with other pure acids, peptides, retinol retinoids, vitamin C, EUK and 100% pure niacinamide.
